Senior Inspector Cheung Ka-chun of the Examinations and Assessment Centre, Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) attended the 43rd Annual Conference of the International Association for Educational Assessment (IAEA) in Batumi, Georgia from October 2 to 6.
The IAEA aimed to assist educational agencies from around the world in the development and application of educational assessment techniques with a view to improving the quality of education. The Hong Kong Police Force has been a Full Institutional Member of IAEA since 2015.
Built on the theme of "Assessment as a Social Lever" this year, the conference drew together over 300 worldwide members to explore how assessment was used as a change agent to improve social justice and the quality of teaching and learning. Prior to the conference, hundreds of paper proposals had been submitted to a conference committee for shortlisting outstanding proposals and the authors of these proposals were invited to present their experience and views to other members in the conference.
Mr Cheung was invited as one of the presenters in the conference. He outlined the deployment of a new computer technology known as Interactive Electronic Assessment, which has been incorporated in the Recruit Police Constables (RPCs) Foundation Training Programme since 2008 to increase access to fair testing for RPCs in the Foundation Training of Hong Kong Police Force.
Mr Cheung showed to other members the HKPC's achievement in computer-based assessment system in a bid to augment the HKPC's status in the international arena.
