The Information Systems Wing will launch the Case Management and Investigation System (CMIS) on December 9 to meet the evolving operational, legal and technology requirements in supporting police formations in case management and investigation.
The CMIS, which will replace the Communal Information System (CIS), contains six key features. Apart from "Enhanced Consistency and Supervision" and "Enhanced Operational Efficiency" which have been introduced in the last issue of OffBeat, the new system will also assist officers in deployment planning and case management through the following features:
3. Enhanced Crime Analysis and Action Planning
With the support of advanced search functions, officers can make use of the CMIS to retrieve case data in a timely manner for crime analysis, manpower planning for major incidents/events, as well as planning for anti-crime and traffic management operations and fight crime campaigns. For instance, with the support of the Geographic Information System (GIS), the CMIS can provide a holistic view of crime map for effective beat patrol and traffic control deployment.
4. Enhanced Case Management
The CMIS will not only retain the existing management report network in the CIS, but also integrate a Business Intelligence (BI) tool to facilitate trend analysis, manpower planning as well as productivity and enforcement management. The BI tool will also provide instant graphical reports with Force-wide or individual formation statistical figures to ease customised analysis or reporting. In addition, the BI statistical figures will link with the respective case's Report Number to provide case information in the platform. The CMIS also has an inbuilt scheduling tool in the form of a calendar, in which important dates will be marked automatically with a reminding message sent to officers, so as to enhance officers' capability in case management.
Please stay tuned for the other main features of CMIS and the rollout arrangement!
