The Quick Reaction Force of New Territories North Region (QRF NTN), in conjunction with the Civil Aid Service (CAS) and several government departments, staged a Mountaineering Safety Promotion Day 2017 at the Southorn Playground in Wan Chai on October 22 to promote public awareness of hiking safety and reduce the accident rate of mountaineering activities.

Officiating at the opening ceremony of the event were Under Secretary for Security Mr Au Chi-kwong, Assistant Commissioner (Operations) Cheng Yiu-mo and representatives from the related government departments. The QRF NTN put up exhibition booths to display mountain search and rescue equipment and convey messages on mountaineering safety.

The event not only raised public understanding of mountain rescue work, but also displayed the Force's operational competencies in rural areas.
