The Hong Kong Police Painting and Calligraphy Club (HKPPCC) held a maiden exhibition of its members' artworks at the Art Museum of Beijing Fine Art Academy in the capital city from October 18 to 21 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
The opening ceremony took place in Beijing on October 18, with Commissioner Lo Wai-chung; Dean of the Academy Mr Wang Mingming; former Vice Minister of Ministry of Public Security Mr Chen Zhimin; Deputy Director-General of Police Liaison Department, Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR Mr Li Minzhen; Director, Office of the Government of the HKSAR in Beijing Ms Foo Siu-wai; and Chairperson of HKPPCC Ms Lee Nga-lai officiating and gracing the ceremony.
The exhibition showcased 95 pieces of artworks, including traditional Chinese paintings, oil paintings, calligraphy and seal engravings, made by 89 members of HKPPCC. Mr Wang said in his speech that he was deeply impressed by the quality of the officers' artworks, which are a true reflection of their work-life balance.
The exhibition was held with overwhelming success as a result of the solid support by three Honorary Vice Presidents of HKPPCC cum officiating guests, namely Messrs Huang Heiman, Norman Lam and Aaron Ng, not to mention the mammoth planning, co-ordination and preparatory work performed by staff of the Academy in Beijing.
