The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) has appointed 43 members of the Technology Crime Initial Response Cadre (TCIRC) with an aim to offering induction training to frontline officers to address prevalent technology crimes such as social media scams, online purchase scams, email scams and ransomware attacks.

The CSTCB has run two train-the-trainer workshops for the 43 TCIRC members on October 18 and 27. Superintendent Lam Cheuk-ho and Chief Inspector (Support) Fan Chun-yip of the Intelligence and Support Division of CSTCB adopted a multi-faceted approach to explore the modus operandi employed in technology crime, and briefed the TCIRC members ways of classifying cases of technology crime.

The trained TCIRC members will successively pay field visits to frontline units in Regions and Districts in November and December to give a one-hour training to frontline officers, in particular those of the Uniform Branch and Report Rooms, to enhance their professional capability and effectiveness in handling technology crime reports.
