In support of the Senior Citizen's Day, the Senior Police Call (SPC) held the "Share the Love - Senior Police Call" at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on November 4. Commissioner Lo Wai-chung officiated at the launching ceremony of the event and distributed blessing bags to the elderly participants.
The event aimed to express care and respect to elderly in need and to applaud the elderly community for their contribution to society. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Lo said that the event was one of the highlights of SPC this year. SPC members of 21 police districts would visit elders in need, give blessing bags to them and spread the messages of crime prevention and road safety.
In addition, Mr Lo expressed gratitude to the SPC Central Advisory Board, Presidents of SPC Honorary President Council from various police districts, working partners and SPC members for their support, and thanked The Hong Kong Jockey Club for their sponsorship. He encouraged SPC members to continue to fight crime with the Force and serve the community with their experience and strength.
Three SPC ambassadors, namely Community Care Ambassador Ms Sit Ka-yin, Fight Crime Ambassador Mr Wu Fung and Prevent Crime Ambassador Mr Au Sui-keung, and Chief Music Director of the event Mr Lai Siu-tin, gave singing performances in the ceremony. Mr Au and his team also composed a theme song for SPC and sang the song publicly for the first time.
Other officiating guests included Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chiu Wai-yin, Chairman of the SPC Central Advisory Board Mr Yu Tat-chung, Assistant Director (Elderly) of the Social Welfare Department Ms Pang Kit-ling, and Head of Charities (Communication and Engagement) of The Hong Kong Jockey Club Ms Irene Chan. Some 600 SPC members and guests attended the ceremony.
