The Hong Kong Police Inspectors' Association (HKPIA) celebrated their diamond jubilee with about 300 guests and members in a 60th Anniversary Ball at Island Shangri-La Hotel on November 17. The HKPIA was established in 1957 to promote the welfare of inspectorate officers.
Among the guests at the ball were Commissioner Lo Wai-chung, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing, Deputy Commissioner (Management) Chiu Wai-yin, Honourable President of HKPIA Mrs Ip Lau Suk-yee and Deputy Director of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Basic Law Committee of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Ms Leung Oi-sie. It was honoured to have Mr Lo and Mrs Ip to give keynote address. The HKPIA set up exhibition panels outside the banquet room to review the path of the Association in the past six decades.
HKPIA Chairman Mr Lee Jim-on was grateful to the unyielding support of the Senior Directorate Group and Staff Relations Group, HKPIA members as well as other staff associations concerned. He stated that the HKPIA would continue to uphold the principle of "Together we stand, Safeguarding the rights", with a commitment to showing care for their members, striving to improve the conditions of service and welfare of inspectorate officers, and assisting the Force to foster internal communication. He also made his best wishes to the Association and the Force.
Making a toast to kick off the dinner, the members and guests spent a wonderful evening to celebrate the Association's diamond jubilee. The Police Band performed dance music, and a lucky draw brought the occasion to its climax! All guests and members received a copy of the 60th anniversary special edition book and a purpose-designed limited edition Octopus card with pride to conclude a memorable event.
