Director of Guangdong Border Control Bureau Mr Chen Huixi led a 12-member delegation to visit Hong Kong from November 29 to December 1. Comprising border control officers under the Ministry of Public Security as well as from Guangdong, Guangxi and Yunnan, the delegation took part in the 55th biannual Anti-Illegal Immigration Intelligence Exchange Meeting with Hong Kong police officers.
Both sides reviewed cross-boundary enforcement work in the last three quarters of 2017 and discussed the tactics against illegal immigration, alongside measures to enhance the existing intelligence exchange mechanism. The delegates also visited Lok Ma Chau Control Point, Marine Regional Headquarters and Operations Wing of the Hong Kong Police Force.
Meanwhile, Mr Chen led some delegates to pay a courtesy call on Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Lau Yip-shing. They exchanged views on various operational issues of mutual concern, which covered the trend of illegal immigration and the corresponding enforcement strategies. They looked forward to strengthening communication and co-operation between the Mainland and Hong Kong in combating syndicated illegal immigration activities.
