Police Constable Chan Hin-chun from District Anti-Triad Section of Tai Po District (TPDIST) was invited to talk about cross-professional collaboration to prevent youth drug abuse at a workshop for over 100 social workers and teachers at Tai Po Community Centre on November 14.

Organised by the Hidden Drug Abuse and Dual Diagnosis Focus Group of Tai Po and North District Local Committee on Services for Young Person, the workshop provided a platform for Mr Chan to speak on police work to fight drug abuse and the problem of young people being lured into drug trafficking and its criminal liability.

Earlier on October 7, the Police Community Relations Office of TPDIST rolled out a workshop on Simulated Arresting Operation for 40 secondary school students from Tai Po and North District. The workshop was the first stage of the Drug Fighting Elite Scheme under Project Gen-Y. After a School Liaison Officer explained the relevant laws and the scope of police powers in fighting drug abuse, some police volunteers guided the students to conduct a simulated arresting operation, covering intelligence analysis, manpower arrangements and operations planning. The participants responded that they gained knowledge on the latest drug trends, and vicariously experienced the challenges and difficulties faced by police officers.
