Deputy Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) Mr Gong Zhiyong led a 35-strong delegation to visit the Hong Kong Police Force from December 10 to 16, 2017, with an aim to exchanging views with local officers on investigation skills and evidence collection.
Comprising CID representatives and forensic experts from various provinces and cities, the delegation visited the Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau, the Criminal Intelligence Bureau, the Identification Bureau, the Liaison Bureau, the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau and the Crime Headquarters of Kowloon East Region to share policing experience with local officers.
Meanwhile, Mr Gong paid a courtesy call on Acting Director of Crime and Security Chung Siu-yeung, and discussed ways to combat crime. Mr Chung welcomed the MPS to continue sending forensic expert delegations to Hong Kong so as to forge co-operation in criminal investigation and technical matters of the two places. Mr Gong hoped that both parties would maintain regular exchanges to nurture more professionals in forensics.
During their stay in Hong Kong, the delegates also called on the Department of Justice, the Government Laboratory and the Forensic Pathology Service under the Department of Health to gain a better understanding of the local judicial process concerning testimony of expert witnesses.
