The Police College invited one of the Honorary College Advisors, Dr Fan Tak-wing who is a Specialist in Psychiatry and Chairman of the Hong Kong Autism Awareness Alliance (HKAAA), to give a sharing session last November for Non-commissioned Officer (NCO) trainees on the characters and needs of autistic people.

In another step to enrich the officers' understanding of autistic people, the Police College has exhibited a collection of artworks made by autistic persons. The artworks, which were borrowed from the HKAAA, were displayed in classrooms of the Junior Police Officer Development Learning Division in Aberdeen. The exhibition enabled the officers to have a glimpse of the inner world of mentally incapacitated persons (MIPs) and appreciate their intrinsic needs and desires for love and care.

The Police College is committed to enhancing officers' ability in identifying and handling MIPs. Since 2015, it has organised eight sharing sessions for its staff and trainees of NCO Promotion Course to increase their understanding of MIPs' needs.
