A 12-member Force delegation visited the New York City Police Department (NYPD) from January 22 to 26 under the arrangement of the Hong Kong Police College. Led by Chief Inspector Chung Chi-chuen, the delegates comprised two Senior Inspectors, three Sergeants and six Police Constables.

In addition to exchanging views with representatives from the Intelligence Bureau, the Legal Bureau and the Quality Assurance Division of NYPD, the delegates called on the Strategic Response Group, the Office of Emergency Management and the Fifth Precinct, a land division serving the Chinatown of Manhattan, to share experience in handling public events and emergencies.

The delegates also visited some international agencies in New York, including the Office of the Special Representative of INTERPOL to the United Nations, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime as well as the United Nations Headquarters to learn more about the co-operation of overseas law enforcement agencies in combating international organised crime.

The visit enabled the delegates to get a better understanding of NYPD's work and develop close ties with its officers.
