The Storytelling Group is endeavoured to promote a knowledge sharing culture through publishing real-life stories of experienced officers. Recently, it has compiled a book about some articles of Yung Shu Tau column for officers' reference.
Following the publication of the first article titled "One second can make a difference" by the Storytelling Group in OffBeat in 2012, Yung Shu Tau column has been providing a platform for Force members to share their valuable experience and knowledge. The new book, with a selection of feature articles from the column, shed insight into the expertise of officers and showed the professionalism, excellence, solidarity and service-oriented culture of the Force. It is one of the initiatives to promote knowledge management (KM) in the Force.
The Storytelling Group named the book "Yung Shu Tau – Embracing the Inheritance" to reflect its mission of passing on both explicit and tacit knowledge in the Force through stories. The publication has not only enriched the history of the Force, but also inspired officers to acquire more policing skills.
KM Champion of the Storytelling Group Mr Kong Hok-lai thanked every colleague who contributed his or her story. He said that their generous support helped equip other officers with knowledge to boost the professionalism and efficiency of the Force.
Mr Kong also expressed his gratitude to the Police College for their strong support for Yung Shu Tau column. The new book covered different aspects of police work and experience, the perseverance and determination of officers in foiling crime cases, as well as their kind hearts. Officers may make reference to the experience of their predecessors to learn how to solve problems and alleviate work pressure.
Hard copies of the book have been distributed to various police units through Training and Staff Relations Officers and Resource Centres. An e-version is available on POINT concurrently.
