The Cyber Security and Technology Crime Bureau (CSTCB) organised the Online Service Providers Symposium 2018 to strengthen its liaison network with stakeholders and to promote a cyber security culture. The event was held in conjunction with the Government Computer Emergency Response Team Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre at the Police Headquarters on March 2.

Over 300 local and overseas representatives of 123 public and private organisations participated in the symposium. They were management and technical personnel in the fields of information technology and cyber security.

Speaking at the opening of the symposium, Acting Chief Superintendent of CSTCB Law Yuet-wing highlighted the importance of co-operation between the Force and online service providers. He said, "Owing to the borderless nature of technology crime and cyber security incidents, the concerted efforts by local and overseas stakeholders are of paramount importance. The integrity and security of the cyber world starts with our long-lasting partnership."

Eight renowned speakers from online service providers, including Google, Tencent and Alibaba, gave a series of talks on the development of cyber security, the trend of cyber attacks and malware infection as well as measures to combat cyber threats. This was followed by a discussion session during which the stakeholders shared their insights and experience in safeguarding cyber security.

The symposium paved the way for further co-operation and exchange of information among the stakeholders.
