The Knowledge Management (Marine Policing) team ran an experience-sharing seminar about the "Preparation for the Final Assessment of the Marine Police Efficiency Certificate (MPEC)". Over 130 frontline officers attended the event held under the title of Knowledge Café at the Marine Regional Headquarters on February 23.

MPEC is a professional maritime qualification, which recognises the competencies of an officer to perform basic duties on a marine police launch or vessel. It lays a foundation for certificate holders to attain advanced qualifications. Upon completion of a four-week MPEC training course and on-the-job-training, an officer will have to undergo an assessment conducted by the Marine Police Training School (MPTS) before being awarded MPEC.

The speakers of the seminar were incumbent training officers of MPTS, Station Sergeant Kwok Shu-wing and Acting Station Sergeant Li Kai-wah. They shared their observations in past assessments and highlighted some common mistakes made by candidates. The seminar increased the participants' understanding of the assessment and better prepared them for the upcoming test.
