The International Executive Development in Policing Programme (IEDPP) 2018, co-organised by the Hong Kong Police College (HKPC) and the Canadian Police College, commenced on March 5. This is the Force's first training programme accredited Level 6 of the Hong Kong Qualifications Framework (HKQF) (equivalent to Master Degree level), and is the first online learning programme recognised by the HKQF.
During the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) Dr Chan Siu-kun presented the Statement of Accreditation Approval to Director of Personnel and Training Li Kin-fai, Director of HKPC Lau Chi-wai and Canadian Police College's representative Ms Hélène Roberge.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Li said that the IEDPP has marked a milestone in police training in the Hong Kong Police Force. He wished the newly accredited programme a resounding success. Ms Lau expressed her gratitude to the Qualifications Framework Secretariat and the HKCAAVQ for their support and advice throughout the accreditation exercise, and thanked officers for their efforts in running the programme.
Launched in 2012, the biennial programme is jointly run by the two police colleges for police executives to expand their strategic leadership knowledge, skills and abilities. This is the fourth time for both police colleges to deliver the programme. With an equal emphasis on theory and practice, the programme strengthens the participants' international exchanges and global perspectives.
The preparatory work for the accreditation started in January 2016 and it took a year to complete. Both police colleges worked closely to compile high-quality documents for the assessment panel's consideration. They had also arranged a visit for the panel members to learn about their professional training services. Hence, the programme was successfully accredited.
