Commanding Officer of the Police Negotiation Cadre (PNC) Wong Kwong-hing and 11 cadre members organised a one-day crisis negotiation workshop at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) on March 17, at the invitation of the Asian Medical Students' Association Hong Kong. Thirty-two medical students from the CUHK and The University of Hong Kong attended the workshop.

The PNC members started by giving an overview of the suicide trend in Hong Kong and the common causes of suicide, followed by a talk on negotiation skills and a sharing of their experience in handling cases in hospitals. They reminded the students to intervene timely if they detect signs of suicide in others. After demonstrations by PNC members, the students participated in scenario-based exercises under the guidance of veteran police negotiators.

The budding medical students found the sharing of PNC members inspiring. The workshop not only deepened their understanding of the PNC, but also enabled them to learn negotiation skills to save lives and resolve crisis. This was in line with the PNC's motto of "Who Cares Wins".
