The Used Clothing Collection Campaign 2017, a joint venture of the Force and The Salvation Army, had collected 110 536 kilograms of clothing and used items from 22 collection points in police premises.
A Handover cum Recognition Ceremony was held at the Police Headquarters (PHQ) on March 26, with Assistant Commissioner (Personnel) Siu Chak-yee and Officer Commanding of The Salvation Army Hong Kong and Macau Command Lieut-Colonel Ian Swan as officiating guests. Mr Siu thanked Force members for their contribution to the campaign last year. He appealed for their continuous support this year to extend care to the underprivileged and optimise the use of resources. Afterwards, Mr Swan and Business Administrator of The Salvation Army Mr Alex Wong presented souvenirs to representatives of the participating police units.
Meanwhile, the Used Clothing Collection Campaign for 2018 has commenced. Force members are encouraged to donate their used items, including clothing, toys, books, electrical appliances, computers and pianos to the collection points at the PHQ, New Territories South Regional Headquarters, Central District, Marine Harbour Division, Marine South Division, Tuen Mun Division, Castle Peak Division, Police Sports and Recreation Club as well as the Police Married Quarters or Disciplined Services Quarters at the Police College, Old Bailey Street, Wong Tai Sin, Yau Mei Court, Ko Cheung Court, Shun Lee, West Kowloon, Lai King, Tsing Yi, Kwai Fuk Court, Kwai Yung Court, Yuen Long, Sheung Shui and Wu Hong in Tuen Mun.
