Shatin District Junior Police Call (STDIST JPC) Honorary President Mr Man Yu-hin and Assistant Police Community Relations Officer (Youth Engagement)(STDIST) Lam Pui-mo led 40 JPC members to visit Shenzhen and Huizhou from March 29 to April 1 to promote cultural exchanges.
The study tour aimed to broaden the JPC delegates' horizons and increase their understanding of the development of innovation and technology in Mainland China. The JPC delegates attended a talk given by a Hong Kong deputy to the National People's Congress, Mr Wong Ting-chung, on China's political system and development.
Apart from visiting information technology enterprises and factories, they went to a training camp of the Shenzhen Garrison, the Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA). The JPC delegates were the first group granted access to the training camp, which provides training for military officers stationed in Hong Kong. In addition to touring the PLA barrack, the JPC delegates watched a display of weapons and demonstration exercises. They were impressed by the professionalism and perseverance of the PLA.
