Traffic New Territories South (T NTS) and the Road Safety Council jointly held the Wise Ride Safe Cycling Carnival 2018 at the Cycling Velodrome in Ma On Shan on April 28.


Officiating at the event were Senior Superintendent of T NTS Michael Armstrong, Superintendent (Investigation and Support Division) of T NTS Yip Siu-ming, racing cyclist Ms Lee Wai-sze, and Registered Coach of The Cycling Association of Hong Kong, China Limited, Ms Lai Oi-yan.


The carnival featured a variety of activities. A demonstration of keirin racing was staged by Ms Lee Wai-sze and representatives of the Hong Kong Cycling Team and the cycling sprint race team (Category Junior). Ms Lee and Ms Lai Oi-yan also shared their experience on cycling safety. Booths were set up to showcase uniforms and equipment of the Hong Kong Cycling Team, equipment of police motorcycles and bicycles and Wattbike cycling machine. Other activities included a cycling safety competition and a cycling safety briefing. This increased the awareness of the participants of cycling safety.


On the other hand, T NTS, in partnership with Shatin Junior Police Call and Senior Police Call, the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol and the Auxiliary Medical Service, distributed leaflets to cyclists earlier at the junction of Kiu Ha Road and Shui Chong Street in Sha Tin to promote safe cycling.
