The Commercial Crime Bureau (CCB) conducted a Commercial Crime Investigation Course for 108 frontline criminal investigation officers from May 14 to 18. The participants included officers from the Force, as well as 34 representatives of Macao and Mainland law enforcement agencies, the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department and the Securities and Futures Commission.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chief Superintendent of CCB Tsang Ching-fo stressed that investigators should respond to changing crime trends, and the course aimed to provide the trainees with professional knowledge and skills for investigating complicated commercial crimes and frauds.
The course not only outlined the banking and financial regulatory regime, the relevant legislation, investigative skills and policing procedures, but also covered the development of the local financial market and professional institutions. Furthermore, CCB's Focus Groups shared the latest trends in commercial crime and deception.
A trainee from the Macao Judiciary Police, Mr Chan Wai-kit, said the course gave him a better picture of how Hong Kong and Macao have been fighting commercial crime. Police Constable Leung Tai-ho from Yuen Long District applauded the course for providing a platform for sharing experience in tackling commercial crime. Other trainees also found the course rewarding as it had boosted their competency in commercial crime investigation and laid a solid foundation for investigation work.
