The Kowloon West Youth-Care Committee (KWYCC) held its 47th meeting at Kowloon West (KW) Regional Police Headquarters on June 22. Co-chaired by Acting KW Regional Commander Kwok Pak-chung and KWYCC Chairman Mr Chan Kin-ping, the meeting gathered KWYCC presidents and committee members to look into the prevalent youth problems in Kowloon West. Apart from reviewing and formulating youth crime prevention strategies in the areas of publicity, education and support, they also discussed future youth activities.
Before the meeting, Kwok Pak-chung presented a thank-you card prepared by participants of KWYCC tutorial class to Mr Chan Kin-ping. The tutorial class was jointly run by KWYCC, the Juvenile Protection Section of Kowloon West, The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong (Youth Action Network) and the Volunteer Service Group of City University of Hong Kong (CityU). CityU student volunteers offered one-on-one free tutoring sessions for students in need on Fridays during the school term.
KWYCC, co-ordinated by KW Regional Crime Prevention Office, deliberates youth crime prevention issues on a regular basis. A variety of activities, training courses and workshops are organised to develop youngsters' positive life values, foster their personal development and open up new horizons.
