Over 500 youths from 138 local secondary schools joined the "14th Military Summer Camp for Hong Kong Youth" for five or 15 days at San Wai Barracks in Fanling. Director of Personnel and Training Li Kin-fai was one of the officiating guests at the closing ceremony of the camp on July 29.

The camp, which was held between July 15 and 29, offered a chance for the participants to experience military life and receive training, including drill formation, basic combat skills and long-distance marching.

Since 2016, Force members have been invited to be Volunteer Facilitators in the camp. They gave guidance and support to the young participants during the training sessions, and developed close bonding with them through experience sharing.

This year, 18 Force members from constable to inspectorate ranks were recruited as Volunteer Facilitators. They contributed their spare time to cultivate among the participants a positive attitude towards life. Li Kin-fai thanked the Force Volunteer Facilitators for projecting a professional and positive image of the Force.

The camp was jointly organised by the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, the Education Bureau and the Concerted Efforts Resource Centre. It aimed to strengthen the physique of the participants and increase their understanding of national security, military knowledge and the Hong Kong Garrison troops. This would lay a solid foundation for the participants to contribute to Hong Kong and the country.
