Under the arrangements of the Police College, two Chief Inspectors (CIPs) attended the International Visitor Leadership Programme organised by the United States Department of State from April 14 to May 5. The theme of the programme was "Towards a More Safe and Secure World: Transnational Crime Issue".
Together with 19 law enforcement agents and prosecutors from Europe, the Middle East and Africa, the two CIPs met with representatives of American law enforcement agencies, judiciary, and non-governmental organisations in a number of cities in the United States. They exchanged views about various transnational crime issues such as money laundering, terrorist financing, cyber crime, drug trafficking and terrorism.
The CIPs gained insights into the United States' practices in fighting transnational crimes and how they strengthened intelligence gathering through task forces and global co-operation. The CIPs also participated in cultural exchanges and home visits to learn more about American culture. The programme opened up new opportunities for exchanges and made room for collaboration.
