Representatives of a jewellery and watch company and a shopping mall in Tsim Sha Tsui, together with Chairperson of Yau Tsim Mong District Fight Crime Committee Ms Chan Heung-lin, Chairman of Yau Tsim Mong District Council Mr Ip Ngo-tung and Chairman of Tsim Sha Tsui District Kaifong Welfare Association Mr So Chun-ping, presented tapestry flags, silver plates and certificates of appreciation to officers of Yau Tsim District (YTDIST) in recognition of their dedication in the detection of a robbery on July 11.
Receiving the commendation were YTDIST Commander Chow Yat-ming, Acting Deputy Commander Chan Tsz-leung, Chief Inspector (Crime) Lee King-hei, Officer-in-charge (OC) of District Crime Squad (DCS) 1 Chan Ka-ying, OC of DCS 3 Ho Sik-hong, OC of District Intelligence Section Tam Pak-lun and a number of crime officers.
On May 23, two knife and screwdriver-wielding robbers raided the company concerned in the shopping mall and grabbed jewellery worth $5.4 million. Upon in-depth investigation, YTDIST crime officers arrested the culprit with all stolen valuables recovered five days after the robbery.
