Hong Kong Island (HKI) Regional Commander Yu Tat-chung appointed members of the third term of the Teens and Elderly Mission Committee (TEMC) in an inauguration ceremony at the Police Headquarters on July 28 to further engage the community in preventing and combating crime.


With the full support of TEMC, the HKI Regional Crime Prevention Office (RCPO) officially launched the "Project Elite Crime Prevention Ambassador" at the ceremony. The RCPO has been recruiting Elite Crime Prevention Ambassadors (Elite CPAs) from schools, communities and youth hotspots in HKI Region since June. Officers would send crime prevention messages to the Elite CPAs via instant social platforms such as WhatsApp and WeChat to encourage them to spread the messages to a wider spectrum of the community and prevent members of the public from falling prey to crime.


TEMC, which is chaired by Dr Liu Kai-ming and with Mr So Kai-kwok as the First Vice-Chairman, Mr Lau Chung-ming as the Second Vice-Chairman, Mr Tong Tai-kam as the Third Vice-Chairman, comprises Dr Chu Chun-ho, Messrs Cheung Hoi-kit, Lai Kwok-kwong, Lam Sai-ho, Lee Kar-ki, Wu Shang-tun, Yu Wai-kit, Kong Tsz-wing and Lam Cho-bun as well as Ms Yeung Yee and Ms Lau Lai-ha as members. Furthermore, Mr Lam Ping-chun and Mr Eddie Wang were appointed as Permanent Honorary President and Honorary President respectively.


Meanwhile, seven artistes, Messrs Louis Cheung, So Yiu-chung, Det Dik, Chiu King-ho and Luk Ho-ming, Ms Lee Sze-wa and Ms Maria Cordero, were appointed as Crime Prevention Ambassadors of HKI Region. They would assist the Police to disseminate crime prevention message in the next two years.
