In the light of an upward trend of "online romance scam" and "fake compensated dating", the Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories North (RCPO NTN) has rolled out a publicity campaign. Officers promoted fight crime messages through radio to raise public awareness of deception.

On August 14, Chief Inspector Law Suk-man and Senior Inspector Ngan Hoi-ian of RCPO NTN gave an interview on "The Elderly" programme on Radio Television Hong Kong Radio 5. Apart from talking about the modus operandi of "online romance scam" and "fake compensated dating" and citing a few cases, they also offered anti-deception tips to the audience to prevent them from being deceived.

In addition, an officer of the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) publicised the Senior Police Call's "Fight Crime Vigour Publicity Truck" in the programme to remind listeners to stay vigilant against crime.
