Eastern District (EDIST) held a ceremony on October 5 to showcase an award-winning banner with crime prevention messages, and to publicise its Junior Police Call (JPC) recruitment campaign. Officiating at the ceremony included EDIST Commander Rupert Dover, Deputy District Commander Leung Tsz-kin, Divisional Commander of North Point Division Cheung Wing-kan and representatives of North Point Methodist Primary School.

The anti-crime banner was a winning design from a student of North Point Methodist Primary School, O Yuk-lam, in the Fight Crime Banner Design Competition co-organised by EDIST and Eastern JPC. As the North Point Police Station was under renovation, EDIST took the chance to put the banner on construction cardboards at an entrance to the station to convey crime prevention messages vividly.

The event also aimed at promoting the lowering of the age threshold for joining JPC from nine to six years old. After the ceremony, O Yuk-lam and her schoolmates, who dressed in police uniform, distributed leaflets in the district to promote the recruitment of JPC members.
