The Road Safety Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island (T HKI) held a Halloween anti-drink and anti-drug driving event with the Road Safety Council (RSC) and the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong Island and Islands) on October 26 at Forbes Street Temporary Playground in Sai Wan.
The event featured performances by the Hong Kong Police Silver Band, the Kanata Roller Skating Association, a band of the Dawn Society and the Hong Kong Chido Taekwondo Association. TWGHs Cross Centre put on display a promotional bus, in which visitors could wear a pair of tailor-made goggles to experience the clumsiness after drinking or taking drugs.
The event was officiated by Superintendent (Investigation and Support) (T HKI) Lai Yin-yue, Chairlady of the Road Safety Campaign Committee of RSC Miss Ma Ka-wai, Deputy Regional Commander of the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (Hong Kong Island and Islands) Mr Lau Kwok-man, Chairman of Central and Western District Road Safety Campaign Committee Mr Chow Chiu-sheung, Acting Assistant Commander (Administration) of Western Division Yeung Kwun-chung and Senior Inspector of Road Safety Unit of Traffic Branch Headquarters Tsai Sai-wa.
After the launch ceremony, the guests walked to the bar areas in Sai Wan to distribute road safety leaflets to road users. Officers invited members of the public to try to take a breathalyzer test to heighten their awareness of the harmful effects of drink driving and drug driving.
