More than 180 mentally incapacitated persons (MIPs) and their family members visited JPC@Pat Heung on November 25 under the arrangement of the Police Public Relations Branch and the Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit (FCSV). Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lam Hiu-tong engaged with the visitors and thanked them for their active participation.

The MIPs came from the Hong Kong Down Syndrome Association, The Neighbourhood Advice-Action Council, Caritas - Hong Kong Parents Resource Centre, Hong Kong Christian Service Chih Ai Parents' Association and the Heep Hong Parents' Association.

The visitors participated in a range of activities, including floor curling, inflatable wall climbing, bouldering and horse riding. They tried on police uniform to take photographs at a simulated crime scene, and got hands-on experience in lifting fingerprints to learn about identification work. Police volunteers chatted with the visitors over lunch to show care and concern.

The visit enabled members of the MIP groups and police volunteers to interact in a friendly environment. Both MIPs and their families were grateful for the arrangements and support. FCSV will continue to organise liaison events and seminars for MIPs, their family members and social workers to foster mutual trust and communication, and uphold the Force's professionalism in handling MIPs.
