Chairperson of the 2018 Fight Crime Conference Ms Alexandra Lo, in the conference on December 8, appealed to the public to remain vigilant against deception, work together for a drug-free society and support the Police to fight crime.


The conference was organised by the Fight Crime Committee (FCC) to provide a forum for members of the FCC and 18 District Fight Crime Committees (DFCCs) to maintain liaison and exchange views on law and order issues and fight crime strategies in Hong Kong. The conference promoted the messages of bewaring of scams and supporting a drug-free community.


Chief Executive Mrs Carrie Lam delivered an opening address at the conference, while Chief Secretary for Administration cum Chairperson of the FCC Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung gave a keynote speech.


To tie in with the conference, members of the 18 DFCCs took part in five pre-conference group meetings to deliberate on youth drug problem and youth crime, technology crime and commercial crime, quick cash crime, burglary and home security, and domestic violence. The five groups presented the outcome of their discussions at the conference.


Nearly 300 DFCC members participated in a plenary session of the conference to exchange views with FCC official members and heads of relevant policy bureaux and departments on various crime issues.


Other officials attending the conference included Secretary for Justice Ms Teresa Cheng, SC, Secretary for Home Affairs Mr Lau Kong-wah, Secretary for Labour and Welfare Dr Law Chi-kwong, Secretary for Security Mr John Lee, Secretary for Education Mr Kevin Yeung, Commissioner of Police Lo Wai-chung and Commissioner of Correctional Services Mr Woo Ying-ming.
