The Family Conflict and Sexual Violence Policy Unit (FCSV) sent a representative to attend the 2018 STOP Domestic Violence Conference on the Gold Coast in Australia on December 3 and 4. This was the first time that the Australian and New Zealand Mental Health Association invited an FCSV representative to share the Force's work experience at the conference.
The conference provided a platform for a unified national voice on ending domestic violence. Over 300 participants from law enforcement, medical and welfare agencies across the world joined the conference. They also participated in workshops to share the unique challenges in their respective regions.
Senior Inspector from FCSV Tam Yik-wun gave a speech on "Multi-disciplinary Collaboration in Handling Domestic Violence Cases" at the conference. She talked about the Force's collaboration with the Social Welfare Department in responding to domestic violence cases, the Force's strategies for dealing with such cases as well as the provision of family protection services in Hong Kong, followed by case sharing.
The conference offered an opportunity for the Force to demonstrate its commitment and professionalism in handling domestic violence cases. It also enhanced the participants' understanding of family protection work in both regional and international contexts.
