The Hong Kong Police Shooting Club took part in the second World Police Service Pistol Shooting Championship in Guangdong Province from November 12 to 20. Organised by the International Police Sports Union in partnership with the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, the competition attracted the participation of over 250 athletes from 73 police forces of different countries and regions.

Led by Chairman of the Hong Kong Police Shooting Club Mr Kong Hok-lai, eight officers of the Hong Kong Police Force took part in competitive events designed to simulate real-life defensive situations, with different pistol models. This was the first time that officers had been authorised to wear police uniform to participate in a shooting competition outside Hong Kong.

Director of Personnel and Training Li Kin-fai and Chairman of the Hong Kong Police Sports Council Mr Cheuk Hau-yip cheered on the Hong Kong representatives at the opening ceremony.

The marksmen from the Hong Kong Police Shooting Club not only gained valuable experience in the international competition, but also achieved satisfactory results. Police constable Lee Wai-kin, a former Hong Kong representative of shooting sports, won the sixth place among hundreds of competitors in an individual shooting event in the non-member country category.
