The Information Systems Wing (ISW) conducted a drill about the Information and Communications Systems Incident Response Team (ICIRT) at Police Headquarters on December 20, 2018. The drill aimed to strengthen the capability and co-ordination of system support teams of the ISW in handling severe service disruptions to the Force's information and communications technology (ICT) systems.

In light of potential cyber threats and the importance of maintaining the robustness of the Force's ICT systems, an ICIRT drill is conducted biennially. The ISW develops scenarios to enhance collaboration of ICIRT members and the system support teams in tackling severe service disruptions concerning the ICT systems.

Assistant Commissioner (Information Systems) Cho Ming-lung led all members of ICIRT Higher Command and the heads of system support teams to take part in the 2018 drill. It tested the participants' communication and incident-handling skills in face of cyber attacks such as spear phishing and ransomware.

All ICIRT members agreed that the drill provided a good platform for them to assess their preparedness to cope with major incidents, and to adjust their strategies if necessary.
