The second Cross-disciplined Forces Training Programme for Ethnic Minority Youth was organised by the Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) with the support of other disciplined forces from December 27 to 29, 2018. A total of 68 participants aged between 13 and 18 took part in the programme at JPC@Pat Heung.
The programme aimed to help ethnic minority youngsters integrate into society and develop positive values. It provided disciplinary, physical and team-building training to the participants. Representatives of disciplined forces explained the scope of their work and the entry requirements for various disciplined posts. Some of the disciplined representatives were ethnic minorities and they encouraged fellow participants to strive for their goals. The participants not only joined physical training activities such as abseiling, crate climbing and indoor rowing, but also received first-aid training.
For each training programme, arrangements are made for the participants to visit institutions of different disciplined forces. The participants of the first training programme paid a visit to the Fire and Ambulance Services Academy. This time, the participants visited the Staff Training Institute of the Correctional Services Department to learn about its training programmes. They also participated in the Reflective Path programme to understand the importance of being a law-abiding citizen.
The closing ceremony of the programme was officiated by Assistant Commissioner (Support) cum Chairperson of the Junior Police Call Central Advisory Board (JPC CAB) Lam Hiu-tong. In addition to representatives of disciplined forces, the Consul-General of Pakistan, representatives of Consulates General of India and Vietnam, ethnic minority leaders from various districts and members of JPC CAB were invited to attend the ceremony and present certificates of completion and best performance to the participants.
A video capturing cherished moments of the programme was played at the ceremony. Two outstanding participants shared the experience gained in the programme while a group of participants sang a song to express their gratitude to the guests. The guests showed their support to the participants by joining the chorus.
The programme is held biannually and the next training camp will be held in July.
