To enhance internal communication and work efficiency, the E-Police Division (EPOL) of the Information Systems Wing launched the Hong Kong Police (HKP) e-mail (unclassified) system in May 2016 and linked it to Bring Your Own Device in July 2017 to enable officers to send and receive e-mails through mobile devices such as mobile phones. The initiative benefits regular Junior Police Officers and auxiliary personnel ranking from Constable to Superintendent. Officers receive unclassified daily messages posted on the Force NoticeBoard, thus they can read the latest Force information anytime and anywhere.

The EPOL organises briefings for regular and auxiliary police trainees about the development and usage of the HKP e-mail (unclassified) system at the Police College and the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force Headquarters regularly. The average monthly hit rate of the system has increased from 2 000 in 2017 to 20 000 in 2018, showing its increasing popularity.

From December 10, 2018, the HKP e-mail (unclassified) system was further enhanced to support frontline officers. All users are provided with either a self-chosen or a defaulted personalised e-mail address, the latter of which uses "Surname + Name" format with a new domain name of "@hkpf.gov.hk" to communicate with other government departments and members of the public via the Internet. The original domain name "@police.gov.hk" is still valid.
