The Inauguration Ceremony of the 13th Kwai Tsing District Junior Police Call (KWTDIST JPC) Honorary Presidents Council cum Presentation Ceremony of KWTDIST JPC Honorary Presidents Scholarship Scheme was held on February 14. Honourable guests, namely Commissioner Lo Wai-chung, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang Ping-keung and Director of Operations Siu Chak-yee, presented awards to winners of the scholarship scheme.
The scholarship scheme was launched last year to commend outstanding and all-round KWTDIST JPC members. A total of 119 JPC members from 25 schools in KWTDIST took part in the scheme. Through a series of activities and challenges, including an integration camp, volunteer service, orienteering and a final interview, 15 JPC members were awarded for their outstanding performance in leadership, police knowledge, sports talent, voluntary service, academic achievement and conduct.
The presentation ceremony was well received by the community, with the support of over 200 stakeholders, including Kwai Tsing District Councillors, Kwai Tsing District Fight Crime Committee members, principals, parents and representatives of government departments. Three JPC members were presented with the Excellent Student Gold Awards while 12 JPC members received the Excellent Student Awards. Each winner was awarded a certificate of commendation and a scholarship.
Meanwhile, 39 community leaders were appointed as Honorary President, Vice President, member or Advisor of the 13th KWTDIST JPC Honorary Presidents Council. Seven of them joined the council for the first time. Speaking at the ceremony, KWTDIST Commander Lau Kit-man thanked all the JPC Honorary Presidents for their solid support to KWTDIST and consideration would be given to expanding the scholarship scheme to benefit more JPC members.
