Kwun Tong District (KTDIST) held the first "KTDIST Primary School (Men) Basketball League" at Lam Tin South Sports Centre on January 27 with the support of Kwun Tong Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents Council. The competition aimed to promote JPC activities and a healthy lifestyle to primary students, as well as strengthening partnership between schools and the Force.
KTDIST Commander Chan Kwok-kee officiated at the kick-off ceremony of the league and he took the occasion to promote JPC activities to the students, parents and teachers.
Over 200 primary students in the district joined the basketball league. Non-ethnic Chinese students from the Hong Kong Taoist Association Wun Tsuen School were invited to take part in the event to enhance mutual understanding and promote racial harmony. Lam Tin Methodist Primary School won the championship eventually.
Furthermore, members of Nam Ching Basketball who were players in the Hong Kong A1 Division Championship league, as well as the Hong Kong Police basketball team participated in friendly exhibition matches with the students. The students took the opportunities to learn from professional players and interact with police officers.
