The Support Wing ran a seminar at the Police Headquarters on February 16 to enhance the professionalism and ability of frontline officers in handling animal cruelty cases.
Officers of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) (SPCA) explained to the attendees the organisational structure and daily work of SPCA, the concept of animal welfare, the relevant legislation, animal handling skills, as well as the knowledge of and experience in handling animal cruelty cases.
The seminar attracted the participation of about 100 frontline officers, including officers from designated investigation teams. The attendees actively exchanged views on the topic and said they learned more about the role of the SPCA and its co-operation mechanism with the Police.
