The Road Safety Office of Traffic Kowloon East (T KE) held a presentation ceremony of the "Join Hands for Road Safety cum Road Safety Design Competition" on February 23 to commend the winners and the practitioners and to raise road safety awareness of members of the public.
The ceremony was officiated by Acting Senior Superintendent (T KE) Wong Tak-cheung, Kowloon East Regional Commander of the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (HKRSP) Mr Chu Chi-ming, Sau Mau Ping District Commander of the HKRSP Ms Lee Shuk-woon, School Principal of Hong Kong Kindergarten Association Pre-school Ms Lam Sui-ki and Chairman of The Hong Kong Dumper Truck Drivers Association Mr Lee Chi-fai.
The champions of the four categories of the competition were Beverly Anglo-Chinese Kindergarten (Kindergarten Group), Po Leung Kuk Grandmont Primary School (Primary School Group), Po Leung Kuk Celine Ho Yam Tong College (Secondary School Group) and KMB buddy (Open Group).
The winner of the Open Group, Mr Ivan Yip, said that he hoped to promote road safety messages to children through chess games. His winning entry was a box in the shape of a double-decker bus with a set of six toy cars for chess pieces as well as a spinner, a dice and a chessboard of cartoon road map tailor-made for KE Region. Other winners also shared their creative ideas and the messages they would like to deliver through their drawings. Other activities of the ceremony were a road safety drama performed by Hong Kong Kindergarten Association Pre-school and a children's Cantonese opera performance.
The outstanding entries will be displayed at Yau Tong MTR Station from June 1 to 30 for public viewing.
