The Road Safety Team of Traffic Hong Kong Island (T HKI) held "Pak Fuk Road Safety Town Open Day cum Safe Cycling Promotion 2019" in collaboration with the Hong Kong Road Safety Patrol (HKRSP) (Hong Kong Island and Islands) on February 16 in North Point.


Officiating at the opening ceremony included Senior Superintendent (T HKI) Ng Lok-chun, Regional Commander of the HKRSP (Hong Kong Island and Islands) Mr Tang Wai-yau, Chairman of the Eastern District Road Safety Publicity Campaign Committee Dr Liu Kai-ming, Principal of The Endeavourers Chan Cheng Kit Wan Kindergarten Ms Wong Yuk-hing and Principal of Ching Chung Hing Tung Kindergarten Ms Chan Shuk-wai.


Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Ng said the Police would continue to strengthen the awareness of cycling safety among the public. He urged all sectors of the community to comply with cycling safety rules with a view to achieving the goal of zero accidents on the road.


Many community members supported the event. The programme featured wonderful performances, including a dragon and lion dance by Ching Chung Hing Tung Kindergarten, a balance bike show by Pac Kids Team, a fancy bike show by the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps, a Tibetan dance performance by The Endeavourers Chan Cheng Kit Wan Kindergarten and a dog show by the Police Dog Unit. All the cycling performers wore helmets and protective pads in the bike shows to remind cyclists to pay attention to safety.


Meanwhile, simulated driving training sessions and classes were held at the Pak Fuk Road Safety Town on February 23 to convey road safety messages to the public.
