Marine Region hosted the annual liaison meeting of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Maritime Law Enforcement Agencies for 2019 at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on March 20. Acting Director of Operations Mak Chin-ho and Regional Commander of Marine Patrick Hodson presided over the event.
Mr Mak gave a welcoming speech in the meeting and thanked Guangdong and Macao maritime law enforcement agencies and other local departments for their efforts in combating illegal immigration, smuggling, maritime crime, illegal fishing and in performing search and rescue operations. He hoped that the maritime law enforcement agencies would strengthen partnership and continue to contribute to the prosperity and stability of their respective jurisdictions in 2019.
About 100 delegates attended the meeting to exchange views on and share their experience in maritime law enforcement to enhance liaison and collaboration. They included representatives of the Police Liaison Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Office for Combating Smuggling from the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, the Anti-Smuggling Bureau of Guangdong Sub-Administration of Customs General Administration, the Guangdong Provincial Marine and Fisheries Inspection Bureau, the Shenzhen Public Security Frontier Detachment, the Zhuhai Public Security Frontier Detachment, the Macao Customs Service, the Macao Judiciary Police as well as local representatives from the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, the Customs and Excise Department, the Fire Services Department, the Government Flying Service, the Immigration Department and the Marine Department.
