A High Table Dinner cum Sharing Session of "Project Legacy" was held on April 18 at the School of Foundation Training of the Police College to commemorate the first anniversary of the project. A hundred principals and students from 32 schools as well as 50 police ambassadors took part in the event.
Prior to the sharing session, Deputy Commissioner (Operations) Tang Ping-keung greeted the principals in a welcoming tea gathering whilst the students joined a tour of police training facilities.
Then, Dean of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong Professor Gabriel Leung gave an inspiring sharing to the students. A representative of a public relations company, Mr Law Wing-chung, was invited to act as a facilitator for a chit-chat session and a question-and-answer session to enhance the students' communication with Professor Leung.
The subsequent High Table Dinner provided unique and unforgettable experience for the principals and students. They were impressed with, in particular, the demonstration of the tradition of "Trooping the Duck" by a probationary inspector (PI) and the "Toast to Hong Kong" led by a Form 3 student who was the youngest participant. Both the PI and the student came from schools under "Project Legacy".
Delivering an opening speech, Head Ambassador cum Kowloon West Regional Commander Cheuk Hau-yip expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Dr Jimmy Wong, who generously supported the High Table Dinner. The event strengthened the understanding and collaboration of the schools and the Force. All guests enjoyed the Mess Night.
This year, 12 more schools joined "Project Legacy" and new Chief Ambassadors were appointed by the Head Ambassador on April 12. The Police Public Relations Branch will continue to provide secretariat services for the 44 schools under "Project Legacy", and co-ordinate Force events to sustain long-term engagement.
