At the invitation of the Home Team School of Criminal Investigation (HTSCI) of Singapore Police Force (SPF), Superintendent Au Yeung Siu-kong of the Detective Training Centre (DTC) of the Hong Kong Police College led a delegation to attend a seminar on video-recording of interviews (VRI) in Singapore on March 21 and 22.

The seminar provided an opportunity for the Hong Kong Police Force to share its experience in conducting VRI. The other Force delegates were two DTC instructors, namely Chief Inspector Ip Wai-kin and Senior Inspector Chiu Chi-wing, who are experienced in Interview Development Training.

The DTC instructors shared their experience with SPF counterparts on various topics, including handling unexpected incidents during VRI; effective communication between interviewers and supervisors; handling problems encountered during VRI, and case sharing about presenting VRI evidence at court.

The seminar not only gave the DTC the opportunity to share its best practices in conducting VRI with the Singaporean counterparts, but also acknowledged the professionalism of the DTC in criminal investigation training.
