The Junior Police Officers Division (JPO Division) of the Personnel Wing hosted the third thematic seminar, titled "The Way Forward of Hong Kong Police Force - Strategic Directions 2019 – 2021", for 140 mentors and mentees of the Development Programme for Junior Officers with Potential, as well as members of the Police Mentorship Programme at the Police Sports and Recreation Club on May 7. The seminar aimed to develop the participants' analytical capabilities and increase their understanding of the strategic planning process of the Force.

In the first part of the seminar, Chief Inspector of the Efficiency Studies Bureau of the Service Quality Wing Wong Wai-chi explained the strategic planning process, and highlighted the significant, profound and far-reaching challenges that the Force would face in the coming years. She inspired the participants to assess situations from a broader perspective, think ahead about possible challenges in their work, and take the necessary steps to reduce risks before problems arise.

In the second part of the seminar, the participants answered questions related to the Strategic Directions (SDs) in a mock interview format. Then Chief Inspector of the JPO Division Lee Wai-see provided feedback to broaden their mindsets and increase their confidence in presentation. Ms Lee concluded the seminar by highlighting the key points of respective SDs and increasing their understanding of various policing issues.

Furthermore, the JPO Division has introduced the Outstanding Mentor/Mentee Awards this year to recognise mentors and mentees' active participation in and contribution to the programme. For details, please refer to the webpage of the JPO Division.
