Kwai Tsing District (KWTDIST) launched a series of publicity activities recently to raise the public's anti-deception awareness and reduce the chances of citizens becoming victims of scams.

KWTDIST has displayed a tailor-made anti-deception poster with a giant QR Code on the outer wall of the Kwai Chung Police Station and the Tsing Yi Police Station. The public can scan the QR Code to obtain directly the latest anti-deception information. On May 8, Chairman Mr Lau Hing-wah, Vice-Chairperson Ms Chu Lai-ling and 20 members of Kwai Tsing District Fight Crime Committee (DFCC) presided over a ceremony at the Kwai Chung Police Station to mark the launching of the anti-deception poster.

In addition, with the support of the MTR Corporation Limited, KWTDIST organised a series of anti-deception publicity events at Kwai Fong MTR Station, Kwai Hing MTR Station, Tsing Yi MTR Station and Lai King MTR Station. The first promotion event was held at Kwai Fong MTR Station on May 17. Three members of Kwai Tsing DFCC, namely Mr Ma Ka-chun, Mr Li Wing-kuen and Mr Mohammad Issac Sidique, distributed anti-deception leaflets in the station together with KWTDIST JPC and SPC members to remind members of the public of the modus operandi of deception as well as ways to avoid falling prey to scams.

KWTDIST will continue to organise anti-deception publicity activities, and solicit the support of local stakeholders to increase the awareness of local residents and reduce the occurrence of deception.
