The Police Community Relations Office of Sau Mau Ping District (SMPDIST) held the Award Presentation cum Closing Ceremony of the 15th "Project Marching-on" with the assistance of Hong Kong Young Women's Christian Association (HKYWCA) Jockey Club Lok Wah Integrated Social Service Centre on May 18.
This year, a total of 115 secondary school students participated in the project. After taking part in a series of training and activities, the students joined a foot-drill competition at Kwun Tong Kung Lok Government Secondary School on the day of the closing ceremony to demonstrate their leadership skills and perseverance.
Deputy Chairman of SMPDIST Junior Police Call (JPC) Honorary Presidents Council (Medical Advisor) Dr Chan Kwok-ki was the reviewing officer of the ceremony. Other officiating guests of the event included Chairman of SMPDIST JPC Honorary Presidents Council Mr Chow Yiu-ming, Acting SMPDIST Commander Glenn O'Neill, Chief Superintendent of Kowloon East Regional Headquarters (Auxiliary) Yu Chi-wai, Assistant District Commander of SMPDIST (Auxiliary) Wan Wai-ming, volunteers from SMPDIST Auxiliary Police, representatives of HKYWCA and principals of four secondary schools that have participated in the project. Also present at the ceremony were teachers, social workers, parents and students of the four schools. The officiating guests, the principals and the teachers applauded the students for their performance in the foot-drill competition.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Chan Kwok-ki attributed the success of "Project Marching-on" to the full support and assistance given by the SMPDIST JPC Honorary Presidents Council, HKYWCA, Auxiliary Police volunteers as well as principals and teachers. He heaped praise on the students and parents respectively for their active participation and support. He also expressed heartfelt thanks to SMPDIST for its relentless efforts in organising "Project Marching-on" annually. He hoped the project would continue to promote community participation and expand the network for young people to participate in community affairs.
