Mong Kok District (MKDIST) is committed to fostering positive values in young people and training them to be youth leaders and crime-fighting partners. In 2019, officers have strived to promote youth development through different kinds of ball games.

Football

Between January and April, a training programme was held to teach the participants professional football skills and enhance their sportsmanship and discipline. Officiating at the launching ceremony were Deputy District Commander of MKDIST Mok hing-wing, Chairlady of MKDIST Junior Police Call Honorary President Council Ms Ng Yin-mui, Chairman of Kowloon Miniature Football Association Mr Gilbert Yu and President of Resources Capital Football Club Mr Hanson Wong.

A participant said players had to stay calm and analyse the situation in ball games and try their best to co-operate with teammates in competitions. He treasured the opportunity to get to know his teammates and they encouraged each other in football competitions.

Basketball

In May and June, MKDIST organised a basketball training course under "Project Ring" for non-ethnic Chinese students of Sir Ellis Kadoorie Secondary School (West Kowloon) to enhance their basketball skills, team spirit and communication.

On June 3, a friendly match was held in the school, with Commander of MKDIST Bradley Wright and Principal of the school Mrs Yeung Kwong Mong-ha officiating at the kick-off ceremony. Both police officers and the students showed their talents in the match. All the participants had an enjoyable time.

Bowling

In June and July, some Junior Police Call members of Lung Kong World Federation School Limited Lau Wong Fat Secondary School took part in a bowling class. Representatives of the Police bowling team taught them the basic knowledge of bowling and how to roll a bowling ball and ways to avoid sports injuries. Some students got their first strike and their confidence was enhanced.
