The Regional Crime Prevention Office of New Territories South (RCPO NTS) visited elderly people in Kwai Tsing District with volunteers from seven secondary and primary schools and nurseries as well as eight commercial organisations on July 6. The visit was organised by the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association to spread anti-crime messages.

Prior to the visit, RCPO officers briefed over 100 volunteers about the latest crime trends, the modus operandi of phone fraudsters and street scammers as well as tips for preventing deception. This provided crime prevention information for the volunteers to share with the elderly.

The participants were then divided into small groups to visit over 400 elderly people in Kwai Chung Estate, Tai Wo Hau Estate, Kwai Fong Estate and Cheung Ching Estate, and distributed crime prevention publicity materials to them. RCPO officers visited five elderly households and presented them with gift packs together with crime prevention publicity materials. The activity helped raise the crime prevention awareness of the volunteers and the elderly people.
