The Police Public Relations Branch (PPRB) held the first international youth camp at JPC@Pat Heung between July 15 and 19, drawing the participation of over 140 youngsters from various police-youth organisations or schools.
The participants included representatives of the New Zealand Blue Light, Greater Bay Area Junior Police Camp in Jiangmen, Shunde Huaqiao Middle School, the Junior Anti-crime Pioneers of Macao Judiciary Police, Junior Group of the Public Security Police Force of Macao and the Junior Police Call (JPC) of Hong Kong.
Assistant Commissioner (Support) Lam Hiu-tong officiated at the launching ceremony with other delegation heads. She emphasised that the camp would create an innovative platform for the participants to broaden their global horizons and to promote cultural exchange. The camp aimed at building relationship between the Police and young people, cultivating the civic awareness of youngsters and establishing overseas contact points for the JPC Scheme.
The participants received training in leadership and teamwork as well as sports training at JPC@Pat Heung. To allow the participants to learn more about Hong Kong, a city orienteering was organised. At the end of the camp, the participants took part in a youth forum to share what they had learned in the camp.
The delegation head of New Zealand Blue Light presented a thank-you card to the JPC and wrote in the card, "Thank you so much for inviting New Zealand to be a part of the JPC Youth experience. We have enjoyed our stay very much and will take home many memories that will last a lifetime! Hope to see you next year."
